Nutritional and local food
Health establishments in Quebec have a duty to set an example in terms of food offerings.
The Observatory aims to develop a strategy and common tools to assess and monitor food offerings. In 2015, no study had cataloged the measurement tools used in Quebec. The objective of this study was to document the state of affairs by cataloging and analyzing the measurement tools used in Quebec since 2005 that describe food offerings in various living environments. The challenge faced by establishments is to provide food that is both healthy and local. Thus, the mandate given to the Observatory by the government for this project is to design and disseminate a decision-support tool to guide health establishments in purchasing healthy and Quebec-made foods. This project contributes to Objective 3.2.3 of the Governmental Health Prevention Policy (PGS).
