Ethics
Context
The Observatory has a robust and inclusive governance process to support its work. Supported by several active partners, the Observatory mobilizes a total of thirty stakeholders in the food supply and public health sectors, as well as consumers.
In this broad context of public, academic and private partnerships, it is essential to ensure and support the credibility and independence of the Observatory. That is why the Observatory equipped itself with “best practices in ethics” and “live ethics” within its own governance structure.
Advisory Committee
To this end, an Ethics Advisory Committee was included in the Observatory’s governance structure. This committee is entirely independent of the Steering Committee and the Observatory’s other committees in order to maintain the distance required to carry out its mandate.
The committee’s objectives are to:
- Support the adoption of responsible research conduct for the Observatory;
- Support the update of ethical best governance practices;
- Ensure the prevention and management of conflicts of interest.
